Chiara Giovando is a musician and a video artist. Her work explores silent human interactions that are staged, abstracted and ritualized. She uses a baroque language of color and composition to exploring narrative through symbol, often invoking reflections of the characters instead of the psychology of drama. Her work addresses the construction of narrative by dissolving traditional formulas.
She has worked with sound and video in a variety of contexts ranging from museums to independent spaces across the United States and Europe including; Issue Project Room, Roulette, West Nile, Deitch Project, Whitney Museum, NYC, Southern Exposure, Luggage Store, The Lab, San Francisco, Floristry, High Zero, Tarantula Hill, Baltimore, Fort Thunder, Providence.
